Quartzite Countertops
While quartz is an actual crystal, a quartzite countertop is made from a specific rock type. Mother Nature made this stone in the past, at high pressures and high temperatures. Sandstone, which has quartz crystals in it, has been melted and fused into a rock called quartzite. The quartzite is then cut into a countertop for the kitchen. Quartzite can be extremely expensive for higher qualities, but it possesses high durability and an attractive natural stone finish.
